Whispers of Creation
The Kingdom of Zephyr hosts many powerhouses of nature, known as Whispers of Creation. They are the lifeblood of magic within the kingdom.
These "Whispers" are the focal points in nature where energy gathers and disseminates throughout the realm.
What exactly the Whispers are is still unknown to men; but they take on the appearance of floating, glowing crystals.
Ancient lore suggests that these crystals receive their energy from another world completely; but all past scholars have failed to prove such a claim.
Whether it is the heat of the sun, or the cold of winter, the Whispers fuel the forces that govern the seasons.
And while the Whispers give magic to the world itself, they also lend this power to the men within the world. These men, known as breath singers, have used the powers given to them to shape their civilizations.
The Breath Singers
If the Whispers are the lifeblood of magic in Zephyr Kingdom, the breath singers are the body.
Since The Beginning, the breath singers were tasked with maintaining balance in nature. Throughout history, they have been instrumental in keeping peace as well as fighting in wars.
The breath singers, as their name implies, draw their power from breath. Their breath can call upon the powers of nature, producing incredible magical works.
Based on which Whisper the breath singer has communion with, different effects may be produced.
From fire-breathers to ice-makers, there are numerous types of breath singers that can be found within Zephyr Kingdom.
Many types are known. Some are not.
Niu, Lord of the Void
With every great power comes an entity that wishes to corrupt it and claim it for itself. The Enemy of Man, Niu, has worked to corrupt breath singers since the world began.
Niu has worked these few thousand years with one goal in mind: return all Creation to nothing.
Having been cast out of the Heavens, Niu, wishing to spite The Almighty, took to usurping the powers of the breath singers. He granted enhanced powers to those who followed him.
Those breath singers enhanced with Niu's influence are actively working within the world, causing wars, mayhem and destruction wherever they go.
As time has gone on, many of the world's breath singers have followed the path of Niu, forgetting their original calling. The Creator foresaw this, and sent Conductors throughout the ages to restore order.
The Conductor
The Conductors are tasked with maintaining order in the realm of man. They boast exceptional skills as breath singers, yet their power expands further than the average breath singer.
Normal singers can only draw power from one Whisper. The Conductors can draw power from all of them.
Throughout history, the Conductors have been a thorn in Niu's side. In response, he resolved to wipe Conductors from the world entirely. After millennia of constant warring, Niu had finally achieved his objective.
For the past five-hundred years, the realm of man had been without a single Conductor. Niu's dark forces had wreaked havoc on the world; and there were few breath singers left with noble hearts.
Niu was now free of any Conductor interference with his ultimate goal: reducing the world to nothing. At the very least, he believed that to be true.
